Those Who Serve
We all have a story, and we all can learn something from one another. But how much time do we truly spend getting to know the people who serve us every day? Most of us don’t even know their names, let alone their stories. I believe these stories, just like the fables we are told as children, have the potential to change our perspectives and restore our hope and faith in humanity. My goal in this film was to humanize service workers & invoke hope in my audience that we can all overcome our obstacles. Through our art, we too can serve others.
This film was inspired by the TV show, “Drunk History”, which is an educational TV series on Comedy Central. In each episode, there is a narrator who recounts an event from history, while actors reenact their anecdotes and lip sync the dialogue. I utilized this structure to take the audience back in time and see Will & Ashley's stories come to life. I see this film becoming a TV series in which anyone who has to fear their job being replaced by a machine is able to be interviewed.
